Part of the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, the Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center has high standards for care and a large, diverse, and growing patient population. The 50-chair infusion center housed at the Spring location had to adapt nurse and appointment schedules to grow capacity accordingly. With manual, spreadsheet-based schedules that led to long patient wait times and missed breaks for nurses, the center needed to better utilize available chairs and morning and evening appointments, as well as a clear, data-driven way to justify a significant operational expansion.
To drive infusion scheduling optimization, The Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center adopted LeanTaaS’ AI-powered solution iQueue for Infusion Centers to optimize infusion scheduling. iQueue supported a scheduling template built on historic data that forecasted future appointment volumes, so that nurse leadership could easily produce flexible, level-loaded schedules that best used the capacity available. Information from iQueue also empowered them to make strategic decisions with minimal back-and-forth.
In this session, Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center’s Nurse Manager of Cancer Services discusses how the center leveraged iQueue to absorb patient volume growth by successfully level-loading schedules and fully using operating hours, adding nurses and hours only when they were necessary and would have worthwhile impact. Learn how Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center continued to provide the exceptional patient experience they prioritized, as patient wait times were reduced even as volumes grew.
